Nature & Energy Insights
You may recall those funny episodes of "Bewitched" where Tabatha would say the wrong thing and suddenly she'd end up with *exactly* what she had just said. Well, folks, we may not be your average, friendly neighborhood witch, but we’re still powerful - with powerful energy behind our powerful words. So we can take care to use that power responsibly So just what does Tabatha have to do with welcoming the new year? As I always remind my clients when they look at what is happening in their lives, everything is energy. So before we get completely back in the swing of things in this new year, I invite all of us to breathe deeply …. and set a course to practice mindfulness - being awake to our words, our foods, our thoughts, our everything - even more in our lives this year.
I’m talking about that support that we can give ourselves on an ongoing basis – to sustain us – through the ups and downs of life *before* we reach an emergency state; support that energizes us, empowers us, and propels us forward with joy. But before you start reading the list and going on auto-pilot thinking, “Ok, here are all of the things I should try to do this year”, wait! Hit the pause button. Instead, what if you looked at this list, sat in the present moment as you read it, and listened to your intuition. Which ONE thing did your intuition respond to with a very loud “YES!” - that ONE thing that intuitively you know could help you this year. That’s it. That’s the thing for you to look at, to consider, and if it feels right, incorporate into your life this year. And hey, if you master that one, you can always come back and master a second one that’s calling to you. So let's go! With that guidance in mind, here are some questions – a “list” if you like – that we can reflect upon as we take on what lies ahead for each of us in 2022: 1. Is my food as healthy - and high vibration - for my body as it could be? 2. Do I move throughout the day and get all of that stuck energy out of my body? 3. Do I do all that I can to surround myself with positive people, and if I use them, social media, TV and other influences? 4. Do I regularly do activities that bring joy to my life? 5. Do I practice life-affirming, energizing deep breathing throughout my day? 6. Do I get outside and practice "earthing", getting in touch with the earth directly? 7. Do I honor myself with positive words and encouragement?

Sometimes in my work, I need to start with the basics for my clients. Since we are used to thinking of our world as something that we see, thinking less about what we sense with our other senses, we forget that we are all ENERGY because we can't see that. We are energetic beings. We are RECEIVERS and we are EMITTERS of energy. And we have a life-force energy running through us - known as "Qi" (pronounced 'chee'). Because they are energy, even words In their simplest forms can sometimes hurt, or lift us up. The energy or vibration of the word(s) can make us feel sad, glad, proud, disappointed, ashamed, guilty, or otherwise. And because everything is energy there are many other things – sounds, fragrances, food, and even our thoughts – that can impact our energy field and the Qi running through us. But more on that later … “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” – Nikola Tesla There are many building blocks, down to the level of the quanta in our universe, that make up our energy selves. But skipping the more in-depth physics lesson for now (I don't want to lose you!), I will simplify and start with the larger energy building blocks that we’ve known about for centuries – that of our meridians and our chakras. Traditional Chinese Medicine, in fact, focuses on the energy systems or highways through our bodies, our meridians. The meridians run in straight lines through the organs, glands, muscles, and bones of our bodies. Where and how they connect in the body can explain why an otherwise seemingly unrelated toothache may in fact be related to back pain. Each of these meridians have points that correspond to a specific area of the body and, if imbalanced, can be related to certain ailments or imbalances within our body. These points are the energy points to which acupuncturists apply tiny needles to stimulate the energy flow to help alleviate symptoms and ailments.
These meridians and chakras are within all of us and we all have the auric energy layers around us. So when I do my energy work, I look at these energy centers for all of my clients, both human and animal. As we go about our everyday lives, our energy body is constantly processing all of the “information” flowing to, through and around us. That information, or collection of energy vibrations, are the words, thoughts, food, fragrances, sounds, and other energy forms, and even the energy fields of others that we encounter. If you have a hard time imagining this, just picture the cellphone call bouncing from tower to tower until it gets to its intended destination. We can't see it but we know that it's happening when your call miraculously gets from one location to another. That simple little example is in fact what is going on with everything – not just our mobile phone calls. And this is what our energy bodies - starting with those auric layers around our bodies - are constantly processing, even if we don’t perceive it with our “typical” senses, i.e. our sight, hearing, taste or smell. You/your body feels different – but you may not have realized why exactly. You are in fact processing a lot more energy coming at you from a crowd of people than you are the trees and other inhabitants of nature. Now, contemplate:
What other examples can you think of to tune into, to help you process these more subtle forms of energy in and around your body?
I hope this helps in better understanding your energy body – including some of the very things in our environments that can affect our moods. In future blogs, I’ll delve into our energy and energy’s effects in more detail.
“We are not victims of our genes, but masters of our fates, able to create lives overflowing with peace, happiness, and love.” - Dr. Bruce Lipton With one of my clients, we have discovered the family cat using the behavior of pooping outside the litter box whenever it wants to get a message to the human family. In working with the cat, I release the causal or contributing imbalances, and the family has gotten fast at recognizing what has changed in the home to contribute to the behavior. In being mindful and observant of the cat as a family member, they lovingly find workarounds or other solutions to address the situation. In some cases, we have also worked with the young child in the home who had been rough with the cat, in order to improve the behavior between the two. This has had great results for the entire family.
