Nature & Energy Insights
News topic of the month, hate, CV variants, and our own life challenges….it hurts our hearts and it is hard to focus elsewhere when so many conversations, billboards, news articles and channels – if we read or watch them – come back to negativity. “Focus”, of course, is an interesting word in and of itself. As we know, when we are stressed, our body goes into the 'fight or flight' mode. You may not be aware of all of the chemical activity within the body – releasing of chemicals into the brain for the very purpose of helping to focus in an emergency - and adrenaline entering the bloodstream to heighten our senses for alertness. This means that, while our body is helping us to focus on the “problem” at hand, it’s causing our edginess and irritability. It’s preventing us from switching gears, to that of our creative flow and other more joyful things in life. Nobody stops to smell the flowers when they’re running from a tiger, after all. So unless we have healthy ways to move ourselves out of this mode, we can run the risk of staying in it for longer periods of time, leading to exhaustion and ultimately longer term impact on our mental, emotional and physical health. So just how do we “change the channel”? We interrupt the cycle as soon as we see or feel it coming.
Happy "channel surfing" to something better! ;-)
