One of my wellness practices is diffusing essential oils every day. They lift my mood, help me to relax at night, and do many more things depending upon which ones I'm diffusing or applying topically. Some I diffuse by themselves, while I also enjoy creating blends and exploring what gorgeous fragrances I can create. That's why I made it one of my Top 10 Favorite Gifts of Wellness. So what's with essential oils? Each essential oil has its own vibration and as such, the oil can help with many aspects of our lives. We can actually use the The Body Code to test which essential oils are right for clients if there are oils that can help with their current challenge. I've been able to recommend these oils for goals such as calm amidst anxieties, resting better at night, for alertness at work, for balancing Chakras, and even for infants’ teething pain and to build self-confidence. It's particularly come up as a potential remedy when I'm treating teenagers with self-esteem issues. I can test the type of application (topical, diffused, inhaled), the amount of oil (for example, 2 drops), the number of times/week the client should use it, and the duration in which they should use it. Who knew such a simple 'gift' can pack such a punch!
I’ve created an Essential Oils Pinterest folder - among other Client Resources - that clients use for more information and it's available to anyone. I've even included some fun oil blends just for the holidays from across Pinterest. And of course you can follow any of the essential oils vendors such as DoTerra, Rocky Mountain Oils and others on social media to learn more about these fabulous oils. So as you're thinking about gift-giving, I thought it would be fun to share my own favorites - and ones that we've bought for our mothers to have on hand, too. My Top 6 favorite go-to Essential oils are:
I hope you can find your favorite go-to oils yourself. And in the meantime, you can spread a little joy at the holidays this year by introducing other loved ones to essential oils as well. Happy holidays!

wellness practices and more. And I created this blog for wellness gift-giving options. And you can always check out my webpage on Self-Empowered Healing here. Herein, my 10 favorite gifts of wellness: Wellness gift #1: Essential oil diffuser and essential oils Each essential oil has its own vibration and as such, the oil helps many aspects of our lives. My clients and I use essential oils for calm, for resting better at night, for alertness, for balancing their Chakras, and even for purposes such as infants’ teething pain and to build their self-confidence. You can give the gift of an essential oil diffuser for the home, or simply buy an essential oil or an essential oil blend to help loved ones reap its many benefits. You can read more in my Top 6 "Must Have" Essential oils blog here. Wellness gift #2: Salt baths Salt baths can detoxify the body, and especially when used with some essential oils, helps to relax your mind. It’s important for us to have the space and time to unwind, to get quiet as I talk about in meditation, below. And taking a salt bath helps us to do all of this. You can find many “bath bombs” online – many of them come complete with essential oils with the salts. I definitely use it as part of my ‘wellness’ routine in a week full of client work. I can be my optimum self when I pay attention to wellness. And, to get us to a place of calm with thoughts of nature, I have many nature-themed bathroom décor – towels, shower curtains, bath mats and more - within my collections on Zazzle and RedBubble. ![]() Wellness gift #3: Movement Whether it’s Chi Gong or Yoga, walking/hiking, or even dance(!), movement is important to our bodies. It keeps the energy flow within our bodies moving, it helps us process energy coming at us each day, and as a result, it helps with our mental, emotional and physical well-being. A gift of movement can take many forms but some of my favorites are on my Movement gifts blog. Wellness gift #4: Meditation Here again, just as we our unique, so are the ways we each enjoy meditating. And it’s all good. As you or your loved one begins a regular meditation practice, you and they may explore other ways to meditate. The important part is to start on the journey of meditation and watch what unfolds. Some of us appreciate complete stillness and quiet, others prefer some form of guided meditation, and yet others enjoy soothing sounds. A gift of meditation can come in many forms including mats and pillows for the practice, candles, beautiful crystals for their practice and/or their environment, a book of mantras, meditation music, and even guided meditation subscriptions and apps. I cover some of those in my Meditation blog. You can also read about one of the many ways meditation helps me - in my blog here. ![]() Wellness gift #5: Mindfulness practices This can be a broad topic so I’ll distill it to some of my favorites:
Wellness gift 6: Sound Enabling wellness from sound is another fascinating topic. You can often listen to these on YouTube, Spotify and/or Apple Music and other streaming services, or simply download the digital versions or even CD versions if you prefer listening on a physical device. See my Pinterest folder here for more. Some of my favorite gifts of sound healing are:
These days, healthy cooking and eating doesn’t have to mean blasé’ and bland eating. Have you seen the number of healthy but delicious recipes online nowadays? The great thing about The Body Code is that I can test to see if there is a particular nutrient my clients need, and/or if there is something they are having an allergic reaction to. I also keep some go-to books at home for quick reference with my clients:
Wellness gift #8: Laughter! There can be many stressors in our lives. I don’t need to write about that here. We can use laughter as a way to lighten the load, change the energy of our minds, our hearts, and our homes with more laughter in them! While businesses in 2020 aren’t fully operating right now, movies and comedy clubs may be unavailable but the gift of Netflix, Amazon Prime with comedy categories, or even a specific movie purchase on Vudu and any number of other streaming services can help lift the mood and lighten the day. Some of my Laugh Out Loud favorites that may help inspire you to come up with your own to recommend include:
Oh my – there’s a lot that I can write about media and the potential negative impact it’s been having on all of us around the world. But I’m not going to give it “air time”. Instead, I’m going to focus on the *many* positive forms of media that you can gift to others in your life. Herein, my favorites:Wellness gift #10: A Body Code/Emotion Code gift certificate Of course, my list wouldn’t be complete without including the gift of energy work. To me, the gift of well-being is the ultimate gift of love. These sessions help adults, children and pets, and they address emotional, mental and physical imbalances within our bodies. Since my vendor doesn’t customize the certificates for each holiday, I’m happy to provide one from my photography collection to include with your gift: seals, whales, birds, flowers, landscapes, and more. The vouchers are available in $85 and $100 increments here. Whatever you do, and however you celebrate the holidays, from my home to yours, I’m wishing you and your loved ones the very best in mental, emotional and physical wellness!
![]() So you're looking for something for dear old Dad but you don't know where to start. If you're like me, as a woman trying to figure out something for the Dad in my life (my own or my father-in-law), it takes me a little time each year. I usually sit down and decide on categories of potential gifts and thought I'd share these with you. I've grouped them into categories that typically have plenty of ideas under $25 and certainly under $100. I hope it helps you get started! Meanwhile, if you have >$100 to spend and your man is a nature-lover, I'm all about giving experiences as gifts. You can read more in Top 10 Father's Day experiences blog specifically about such experiences. So herein, my top categories of gifts <$100 to help you get started: Gift cards Often, I find myself buying a gift card. I have found that gift cards work well for older dads who may have amassed many things over the years. The gift card categories alone are endless so you can have fun with this! 1. Gift cards to choose it themselves This category is really focused on gift cards that allow these men to shop for themselves. I don't pretend to know what my dad needs or wants at any given time. So I've focused on the joys in his life. Within this category, I've bought gift cards for:
Physical Gifts The great thing is that many physical gifts can be customized to make them even more special to your father. Themes can include activities he enjoys or places he likes - surfing, sailing, running, golfing, beaches, mountains, national parks, animals such as elk, birds, and more. The world is your oyster in determining how to customize your gift. 1. Beverage accessories - I know where you're going with this BUT... this doesn't have to be just about alcohol. ;-) There are quite a few men out there who enjoy their coffees and teas, or who play sports or otherwise rehydrate with lots of water. From reusable beverage mugs to coffee and latte mugs to corkscrews, travel bottle openers, neoprene wine bottle carriers and even flasks. And of course, there's the entire bar selection from which to choose! 2. Office and electronics - Another broad category, this runs the gamut from cellphone and desk accessories to electronics. Cellphone, tablet and laptop covers, cellphone stands, business card holders, power banks, thumb drives, and desk holders are all examples of things that can be customized for dad. Of course, if you want to spend more you can always buy phones, noise-cancelling headphones, and other electronics themselves. 3. Sports Does the dad in your life participate in sports? For solo sports like kayaking or running, there are plenty of accessories with which you could outfit dad. For family fun, you might like puzzles, ping pong tables, corn hole sets, and accessories. For team sports, you might favor buying or replacing worn equipment - baseballs, soccer balls, footballs and basketballs, golf accessories and other sports-related accessories such as coolers and towels. 4. Wellness I love it when people invest in their own well-being with the resources that are readily available to them. And even better when their family members support them in that goal. Things like meditation, yoga, juicing, and many other resources listed on my wellness page here, all go a long way in wellness. And investing in the gift of wellness for the one you love is a true gift of love. Some ideas to support them are yoga mats, meditation series, juicing books, and more. Obviously juicers will run more than $100 but if you are willing to make that investment, it's a great one. We juice almost every day - and with all of the vitamin boost in the fresh fruits and vegetables, we don't need caffeine in the mornings. (That’s not to say we don’t regularly enjoy a good cup of coffee or tea!) 5. Music If your loved one is a musician, there are many accessories available for him as well. From carrying cases for his instrument, guitar picks, sheet music and books, there are many options in this category. Has he been talking about learning an instrument? There’s always the gift of lessons! 6. Travel This is a fun category and can include anything from the experiences mentioned previously to suitcases and luggage handle covers, passport holders, to yes even trailer hitches! 7. Clothing If you feel comfortable that you know the clothing tastes of the father in your life, there are many options in this category. From home-made shirts and hats, to customized ties, sneakers, jackets, and store-bought items, you know the drill on this one. Be on the lookout for other ideas or for things that he may have worn out. (Not that a man EVER throws away a shirt with a hole in it.) ;-) Last Father’s Day, I found a gift in an unlikely place. While attending a Scottish Highland Games festival, I found Irish flat caps - my dad's favorite! - at a vendor stall. Since they’re so hard to find (except when I’m in the UK), I ended up buying him two. They were a slam dunk with my dad – he was elated. 8. Art This category might be a little riskier if the father in your life is particular with his tastes in art. Luckily, art comes in so many different textures and materials these days - metal, wood, canvas and acrylic, to traditional photographic prints, paintings and drawings. If you can find the object of his passion, you can then select the medium. OR you can give a gift even closer to the heart: create something homemade that he will treasure simply because YOU made it. Whatever you do, whatever you gift, doing so with love is all that really matters! Hope your special dad has a very happy Father’s Day!
