Nature & Energy Insights
This month – with the intense energy coming into our planet, coupled with what can be an intensity around the holidays - I wanted to share with you the concept of an “Energy buddy” that can hopefully help you glide through this time of the year with more ease. So just what is an “energy buddy”? It’s someone who can help us when we’re “in the storm”. Even as we are armed with knowledge about energy and how it impacts us so that we take better care of ourselves, we can still feel the effects. As with everything, our ability to handle more intense life challenges can ebb and flow. We may find ourselves slipping back into unconscious behavior such as frustration, bad eating patterns, and disempowered language (“I can’t..”, “I hate …”, “I’m tired of …”). But please don’t blame yourself if you find it happening to you. Did you know that when our central nervous system is highly stimulated that our brain actually narrows our view? Our creativity wanes, our perspective narrows, and we become more singularly focused, or even “obsessed” with the issues of the day/week/month. While the biology of it may seem complicated, the reason is actually simple when you think of the “fight or flight” response. When we’re in danger, our brain automatically helps us to F O C U S. After all, if we’re being chased, we can’t exactly stop to smell the roses. ;-)
our life. Visualize yourself getting out of your body and the immediate realities that you see right now. Instead, float 30,000 foot above your life and look from that perspective. One beautiful way to do this is through meditation. Turn on some healing crystal bowl music and sit in meditation for awhile. Visualize yourself getting out of your body and the immediate realities that you see right now. Instead, float 30,000 foot above your life. What do you see about your life circumstances right now when you float above you with that fresh perspective? What are all of the good things that you see about your life? Who else do you see in your life that enriches it? Are there family members? Friends? Pets? Beautiful birds in your yard? Colorful flowers or trees? Allow yourself to linger there a bit. Find the other things in your life to treasure, appreciate and otherwise help return to a state of inner peace Our “energy buddy” can also remind us of all of the great tools to calm us:
Even with the knowledge that I am armed with, I, too, have found myself weighed down by heavy “realities” bombarding my energy field. It was starting to take a toll on my central nervous system. I was reminded by a dear friend – one of my wonderful energy buddies – to remember to re-orient my energy. To focus on my love of flow, and not on negative feelings of obstacles. It was just what I needed to hear, at that very moment, to snap me out of it all. I honor her and all of my wonderful “energy buddies”. Remember that we are all teachers – ebbing and flowing, and changing the role from student to teacher and back to student with the changes in our lives. You can be this for someone as well as asking others to be this for you. It’s another beautiful way to care for one another with love and support.
